Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation
The Digital Ark (TDAC) worked with the Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation (AADF) to digitally preserve a collection of color and black & white photography by Jack Mitchell, who was the photographer of the critically acclaimed Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater for more than three decades.The Jack Mitchell Collection comprises captivating photographs ranging from intimate portraits of Alvin Ailey to dancers in exquisite costumes performing awe-inspiring moves. The original negatives and transparencies in varying formats were meticulously digitized at ultra-high resolution in order to enable the AADF PR department the ability to enlarge minute details for future marketing purposes. A two-phased and rigorous Quality Control (QC) process was completed to verify that each image was FADGI compliant, as specified by the Federal Agencies Digitization Guidelines Initiative.
