The Mary Baker Eddy Library
The Digital Ark (TDAC) completed a rapid image capture project for a 103,167 page manuscript collection containing letters and documents addressed to Mary Baker Eddy during the late 1800s. Without a catalog of this collection, TDAC customized a database solution utilizing voice recognition software to capture the first five words of content on each page as metadata—thereby creating a unique, digital identifier. This online database was used collaboratively not only by TDAC's team as a digital image capture and digital asset management workflow tool, but also by The Mary Baker Eddy Library as a project management tool for downloading files, quality control and change requests. This online database can also be used to transcribe the PDF/A documents (archival PDF format) using remote resources through a web browser in order to offer access to full-text searchable files.
